CDFA recently released its Advisory for a post-harvest treatment option for oranges and mandarins (not for lemons and grapefruit – CCM is currently working with U.S. EPA to obtain a Sec. 18 emergency exemption for their use).  The treatment allows for spraying a trailer full of oranges or mandarins in an enclosed tent while still in the field.

Prior to conducting the treatment, please make sure that you read the advisory from CDFA and the research paper documenting the treatment that was conducted by Beth Grafton-Cardwell and Spencer Walse (USDA).  Please make sure that you refer to both documents when conducting the treatment.

CDFA wanted us to make sure that it stressed to you all that this is an optional method of treatment.  If you want to stick with your current treatment, that is completely acceptable.   This is not a mandated method of treatment.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lori Apodaca, Director of Regulatory Affairs, at (559) 592-3790.
