California Citrus Mutual has a long history of engagement and support with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA). World trade and increasing international travel have resulted in more frequent introductions of invasive pests which can seriously threaten California’s food production capabilities and economy. HLB is now in California, having been discovered in over 900 backyard trees in Southern California. CCM has been a strong advocate in supporting the responsible use of pesticides in agriculture in order to keep valuable tools in the tool box in order to have a strong integrative pest management (IPM) program and thereby, prevent overuse of pesticides and the development of resistance to pesticides.
