USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued Section 32 solicitations for the purchase of $20 million in fresh oranges and $12.5 million in fresh grapefruit. The purchases will help support citrus growers by reducing available inventory during periods of surplus and strengthening market conditions while also distributing healthy food to communities in need.
While the Section 32 program benefits growers nationwide, California is expected to see significant benefits as the nation’s leading producer of fresh citrus. CCM advocated for these purchases to help ensure fresh citrus remained a priority within the program.
