CCM Meets with Federal Leaders on Citrus Priorities

CCM Director of Governmental Affairs Jacob Villagomez recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate on behalf of California citrus growers and discuss key industry priorities with federal policymakers and agency officials.

During the trip, Villagomez met with the offices of Congressman Vince Fong and Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff, as well as Samantha Simon with USDA’s Marketing and Regulatory Programs and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). Discussions focused on issues impacting California citrus, including trade, pest and disease prevention, labor, and other federal policies affecting growers.

While there, he also spoke on the Stakeholder Panel at the National Plant Boards 100th Annual Meeting to discuss key challenges facing the industry.

These trips to D.C. provide an important opportunity for CCM to keep California citrus priorities in front of federal decision-makers and ensure growers have a voice as policies and programs affecting the industry are developed.
