The U.S. Department of Labor has released updated Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWR) for the H-2A program. The new rates will be published on August 3 and will take effect immediately in most states, including California. The Department also lowered the national average AEWR used to calculate H-2A Labor Contractor (H-2ALC) surety bonds from $17.74 to $15.96 by revising its calculation methodology. The change is expected to reduce surety bond costs by approximately 10% for affected employees and contractors.
