Argentina’s organic lemon season is expected to begin earlier than usual, according to a recent report by Argentina’s Federation of Citrus Producers. The first shipments to the U.S. East Coast are expected in early May, approximately two weeks ahead of the typical schedule.
According to exporters, the crop is expected to be similar in volume to last year but with a higher proportion of larger fruit sizes, supported by generally favorable growing conditions and strong fruit quality despite periods of heavy rainfall.
Early-season demand, particularly in the United States, is expected to be strong due to limited domestic supply, with prices projected to be significantly higher than last year, driven in part by tight availability, elevated freight costs, and rising oil prices. Argentina is also prioritizing shipments to Europe, where reduced lemon supply from Spain and Turkey is reportedly creating market opportunities.
