Last week, Julia Inestroza was elected as the new Chair of California Citrus Mutual (CCM). Inestroza is a fourth-generation citrus grower in Tulare County. She and her husband, Jorge Inestroza, grow several varieties of navels, as well as valencias, lemons, seedless lemons, and a few specialty varieties. Before returning to Porterville to manage her family’s citrus acreage, Inestroza worked in marketing for the fresh produce sector, where she gained valuable insight into multiple facets of the industry.
“I’m excited to be the new chair of CCM, and I look forward to working with the entire citrus industry to solve some of the many problems and challenges we face,” said Inestroza.
“We are very fortunate to have strong and capable leadership continuing the legacy at California Citrus Mutual,” said CCM President/CEO Casey Creamer. “While being the first woman to serve as chair is a milestone for the organization, she was selected by her peers for her experience and commitment to the organization and the broader citrus industry.”
Inestroza succeeds Jared Plumlee, who held the position of Board Chair for the past three years. The Board also voted to approve a new slate of officers for the upcoming year, which includes Scott Mabs as Vice Chairman, Gabe Olmos as Secretary, Ken Wileman as Treasurer, and Jared Plumlee as Past Chair.
