During our Pest and Disease Committee meeting last week, we heard several reports that citrus mealybug has been hard to control this summer. While damage has not been excessive, the increase in population from last year to this year is cause for increased vigilance.
Dr. Sandipa Gautam, with the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCANR), recently released the August Pest Memo for Citrus Mealybug. The memo includes recent updates, along with links to field trials conducted on mealybug, as well as monitoring and mitigation recommendations.
