USDA and Bryant Christie Inc. Create New MRL Quick Reference Sheets for Produce Exporters and Growers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) has partnered with Bryant Christie Inc. to create a new resource to assist Specialty Crop growers and exporters in understanding MRL Requirements for key foreign markets and therefore create better access to international trade opportunities. The Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) Quick Reference Sheets provide information about pesticide residue requirements in major export markets for U.S. producers and shippers of fruit, vegetables, nuts, and other horticultural crops.

Reference sheets are available for sweet oranges, lemons, grapefruit and mandarins and can be accessed at the links below. We highly encourage citrus growers and exporters to utilize this new resource.

The sheets cover 60 different specialty crop commodities and will be updated by FAS every six months. MRL Quick Reference Sheets are free, easily accessible and downloadable for American farmers and businesses.

Through the Assisting Specialty Crop Exports Initiative, USDA is developing tools and support to help U.S. agriculture producers understand foreign regulatory requirements and gain access to new markets. A key focus is on addressing pesticide maximum residue limits (MRLs), which vary widely by country and can be difficult to track. To help exporters manage these challenges, FAS offers technical resources, country-specific guidance, and works directly with foreign governments to resolve MRL-related trade barriers.
