ICYMI – 2024/2025 Valencia Orange Objective Measurement

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), released its Valencia Orange Objective Measurement for 2024/2025 prior to the start of the season. As of March, the crop was forecast at 15 million cartons, a 4.3 percent increase from the previous season.

Forecast Highlights:

  • The crop is forecast at 15 million cartons. Up 4.3% from the previous year and 1.1% below the five-year average.
  • Fruit size is down an estimated 1.7% from the previous year and 2.8% from the five-year average.

The Valencia season has begun, with very limited harvests of early Valencia varieties. Based on what we’re hearing from growers, it looks like we should have a good Valencia crop this summer. Growing conditions have been good, thanks to the late rains. For more information about the Valencia season, please talk with your packers, markets or shippers.
