Detection of Huanglongbing Confirmed on Orange County Inactive Citrus Acreage

Earlier this month, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) confirmed the detection of Huanglongbing (HLB) in inactive citrus acreage in Yorba Linda, Orange County. The detections mark the first time HLB has been confirmed on non-residential, non-nursery citrus acreage in California. However, the detection site is not currently operational or being cultivated for commercial sale.

Lab results confirmed the presence of HLB on 53 trees on the property. All infected trees have since been removed. The Orange County Flood Control District, which owns the property, is cooperating with CDFA and has conducted all required treatments. The detections do not expand or trigger a quarantine as the property is already inside the existing quarantine boundary.
