CCM Efforts on Pesticide Notification

We want to thank the individual growers who provided public comments to the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) concerning its upcoming regulations on Statewide Pesticide Notification before the August 1 deadline. Your input, as growers, is appreciated and pivotal in shaping regulatory frameworks that dictate day-to-day farm operations.

CCM and several agricultural associations led by Kahn, Soares, and Conway have submitted comments for the record that caution against the use of site-specific application information, including the disclosure of names and active ingredients, and believe that it should pertain only to products where an NOI is already required. While we recognize the need for pesticide notification, we also believe that this can be done in a way that protects a grower’s identification, utilizes existing NOI reporting systems, and does not lead to hyper-notification like the ones experienced by Proposition 65.
