South Africa Citrus Growers Association Reports on Lemon Exports

South Africa’s Citrus Growers Association (CGA) recently published a report providing updates for their lemon export season following the first meeting of its Lemon Focus Group for the 2024 season. The latest estimates from the Focus Group show that 25 percent of lemons packed (9.1 million 15 kg cartons) and shipped (6.2 million 15 kg cartons) are for export.

CGA also recently developed a model to predict supply from the Southern Hemisphere in the EU and UK markets and compare it to expected demand. The model is updated regularly and shared on a virtual platform to support exporter decisions throughout the season. The model indicated the EU market will be oversupplied in the next four weeks, while there will be an undersupply later in the season.
