Bryant Christie Inc.: Argentina Advances Towards Market Access for Sweet Citrus into India

Argentina’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries announced that the country has been authorized to send test shipments at the beginning of their citrus export season to India (in Spanish). The test shipments will formally open the Indian market for Argentine oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits.

In 2021, India reported importing a total of 153,296 MT of oranges (HS 0805.10), 6,494 MT of mandarins (HS 0805.21), and 341 MT of grapefruit (HS 0805.40). Its main supplier of citrus (HS 0805) was Egypt with 80% of all imports by volume, followed by South Africa at 14%. No citrus imports from the United States were recorded.
