DPR’s Mill Assessment Study Update

California’s Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has issued an update on the mill fee assessment study. Earlier this year, DPR launched a study on mill fees and tasked itself to engage and consult stakeholders throughout the various stages of the study and issue a final report outlining proposed options by June 2023. Funded by a 2 million allocation from the 2021-22 state budget, the goal of the study is to assess the mill’s current structure, funding sources and identify the levels needed to sustain DPR’s goals and responsibilities. The mill fee structure has remained unchanged for 17 years and is responsible for about 80% of DPR’s operating fund and expenses.
