The Valley Farm Bureau SHARE and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control Board is hosting a whole orchard recycling and mastication demonstration in Exeter on March 1 at 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. The demonstration, provided by Arrowhead Agriculture, will be located at an orchard off Marinette Avenue, between Belmont Road and Filbert Road. In addition to the demonstration, Air District staff will be on site to provide information about available incentive funding.
Whole Orchard Recycling is one of very few alternatives to agricultural burning available to growers. This method of orchard removal is eligible for grant funding from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. Grant funding is limited. CCM encourages San Joaquin Valley growers who intend to redevelop any orchard to seek funding while it is available. Grant funding is only available to the San Joaquin Valley given the impending prohibition on agricultural burning that will be effective in 2025.
