2021 CCM Scholarship Foundation Recipients Announced

Lauren McEwen: Lauren had been awarded the California Citrus Mutual High School Scholarship; this scholarship is for seniors whose parents are or employed by CCM members. Lauren will be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a major in Agricultural Communication. She aspires to work as a journalist for publication in the San Joaquin Valley, bringing the stories of agriculturists to the less informed. The McEwen family has been rooted in the agricultural industry for many generations.

    Kiara Benavides: Kiara was awarded the Harrison B. Smith Memorial Scholarship; this scholarship is awarded to a Cal Poly student pursuing a career in agriculture.  She is majoring in Agricultural Science – College of Ag, Food and Environmental Sciences, with a minor in Agribusiness. Upon obtaining a B.S. in Agriculture Science, she will apply for the Master of Agriculture Education at Cal Poly. Kiara’s passion for agriculture came from her high school Future Farmers of America experience. She has a love for writing a classroom curriculum that will get students engaged via project-based learning.  Kiara has Interned with Booth Ranches and Cal Poly Strawberry Center.  She is serving on the CAFES Dean’s Student Advisory Council, and she works in the Poly Plant Ship as a florist.
