Congressman John Garamendi (D-California) and Congressman Dusty Johnson (R-South Dakota) have introduced the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2021 (OSRA21). The Act’s provisions seek to address issues that citrus and the broader agricultural industry has been having in moving products at the ports, including containers being returned empty. California Citrus Mutual has signed on in support of the legislation being lead by the Ag Transportation Coalition.
Shippers wanting to learn more about the OSRA21 are invited to join a workshop this Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. A joint Ag Transportation Coalition/USDA Workshop will dissect the bill – so you can understand what changes may be coming, how the FMC will reign in rampant detention and demurrage charges, and end carrier rejection of export cargo. What will ag shippers have to do?
This Friday, August 13 at 10:00 to 11:00 AM Pacific
Only for agriculture and forest products exporters, their forwarders and truckers
No press, carriers, terminal operators or ports
Informal, off the record, for an open discussion
