Read this before hiring a Farm Labor Contractor
Farm Labor Contractors are heavily regulated in order to protect employee health and safety. As an FLC employer, growers and packers have a legal responsibility to ensure the FLC they hire is licensed and in compliance with applicable labor regulations including specified employee training and wage/hour requirements. To help employers ensure they are hiring credible FLCs, AgSafe has created a “Checklist for Farm Labor Contractor Prospect” that clearly outlines all state and federal regulations that FLCs must comply with. We strongly encourage growers and packers to use this checklist as a reference when contracting services from a FLC.
It is also good practice to consult legal counsel when entering into a contract with a new FLC or renewing a previous contract to protect your business and employees against bad actors.
