Call to Action: Support for the 2021 Farm Workforce Modernization Act

The bipartisan 2021 Farm Workforce Modernization Act (HR 1603), introduced by Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), is an encouraging development in the agricultural industry’s decades-long effort to achieving much needed immigration reforms.  The legislation mirrors Representative Lofgren’s 2019 legislation that was supported by CCM and the majority of the fresh produce industry.

The bill provided legal status for the current workforce, reforms the current federal agriculture guestworker program known as H-2A and ensures that we will have future access to a skilled, dedicated workforce.

CCM is continuing our support of the 2021 Farm Workforce Modernization and is working closely with our industry partners to advocate for its quick passage by the House, which will allow for further negotiations in the Senate.

The House may vote on the bill as soon as next week.  You can help us send a strong message to Congress that agriculture wants and needs reforms that ensure a legal and reliable workforce.
