Last March, we avoided a last-minute cancellation and were able to hold one of the final in-person events of 2020. We also had high hopes of putting on one of the first in-person events with the 2021 Citrus Showcase. Planning was underway for alternative sites and dates to try and bring you an in-person event that we all wish we could host at this time.
Unfortunately, the restrictions in place wouldn’t allow us the certainty necessary to put on such a large event. The slow rollout of the vaccines fortified our earlier decision to move forward with a virtual event if we were going to do anything this year. We are very aware of the industry’s zoom burnout and have resisted trying to duplicate the entire format of the Showcase. Instead of multiple workshops and virtual booths, we will be streamlining the event to focus on the macro and micro of the citrus market. The two-hour event will bring a top-notch speaker and industry experts for a stimulating discussion that will give growers insight into the industry’s current and future prospects.
