DPR EXTENDS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR NEONIC MITIGATION DRAFT

On September 28, 2020, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) announced a second extension to the comment period for the draft mitigation proposal that was originally scheduled to close on October 11, 2020. DPR has extended the comment period to October 30, 2020, in order to provide more time to review the additional materials it has released since the mitigation draft was published.  Since the issuance of California Notice 2020-09, DPR has received a request for an additional extension Comments and feedback can be made by email to neonics@cdpr.ca.gov  or by leaving a voicemail message at 916-445-0003.

On the same day, in order to provide additional background information on the proposal, DPR made available a memorandum titled “Identification of Crop Residue Studies for Development of Draft Proposed Pollinator Protection Regulations in Response to the Neonicotinoid Reevaluation” dated September 25, 2020. The document is available here.

CCM continues to engage with DPR staff throughout this process and is also working with the scientific team on the draft mitigation proposal.
