Citrus Stride is going virtual! Join us during the week of October 5-11 as we “move a mile” to help stop food insecurity in our communities. For the 5th annual Citrus Stride, the industry will once again come together with policymakers and Capitol staffers to donate citrus fruit to community food banks across the state.
For every person who registers and participates in the Virtual Citrus Stride, we will donate 1,000 pounds of citrus to the CA Association of Food Bank’s Farm to Family Program during the upcoming season.
Ordinarily, Citrus Stride is a one-mile walk around the State Capitol. But these are EXTRA-ordinary times, so we’re making Citrus Stride bigger and better than ever before!
This year, we’re challenging policymakers and YOU to help us reach our goal of raising 500,000 pounds of citrus for the food banks! We are excited to partner with the Farm to Family Program to ensure our donation goes to the food banks who need it most.
Although the event cannot take place in person, we are excited to continue the Citrus Stride tradition virtually – and have more of our members, and their families take part.
Participating is simple! Register online at www.citrusstride.com, move a mile anytime anyplace during the week of October 5th, and share your experience on social media!
Why YOU should Participate in Citrus Stride
Citrus Stride began as a way to connect citrus growers with policymakers around a shared cause. Hunger affects communities throughout California. It is an issue that pervades nearly every legislative district. Citrus Stride positions the citrus industry as a part of the solution and invites policymakers to learn more about the citrus industry while giving back to communities in need.
Citrus Stride delivers a unique opportunity for CCM and our members to build relationships with legislators and regulatory agencies so that when they are confronted with policy decisions that affect our industry, they think about YOU and the impact on your business.
While there is no substitute for in-person events, we hope that by going “virtual” more growers and policymakers will participate and engage with us on social media. We encourage you and your families to walk, bike, run – MOVE – together! Help us put a face to the California citrus industry for policymakers by sharing photos or videos of your Virtual Citrus Stride experience on social media!
