On August 5, the Senate Rules Committee confirmed the appointment of Val Dolcini as the Director of the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). CCM has enjoyed a productive working relationship with Val during his time at DPR, and we look forward to continued collaboration as the Department moves forward with its reevaluation of neonicotinoids.
It is our top priority to ensure that growers have access to critical crop protection materials, particularly neonicotinoids, which are critical to stopping the Asian citrus psyllid and Huanglongbing. CCM is engaging with Val and DPR leadership to ensure they understand the significance of this and other products to the sustainability of the California citrus industry and existing IPM programs.
During the confirmation hearing, Senator Roth, a longtime friend of the citrus industry, emphasized to Mr. Dolcini how important the citrus industry is to his district in Riverside and to the state. He questioned the Department’s activities with regard to Asian citrus psyllid and Huanglongbing and encouraged Mr. Dolcini to continue working with industry to find solutions.
CCM thanks Senator Roth for his comments and continued support of the citrus industry.
