Dear Members,
As the world is attempting to address the Coronavirus outbreak, your team at California Citrus Mutual will be closely monitoring the situation on your behalf. Today, the President released his Coronavirus Guidelines for America (below). The guidelines stressed the importance of maintaining the food supply as a critical infrastructure industry.
Last Wednesday, we sent recommendations from The Saqui Law Group. Much of that guidance is still relevant today. Included in that guidance were links to the Centers for Disease Control’s Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers. This link will be updated and is a beneficial resource for employers as we move forward. We strongly recommend that all businesses review the guidance and implement them to the extent they are relevant to your operations. The precautions you take today will slow the potential spread of COVID-19 and provide necessary reassurances to our employees. Maintaining a safe working environment for our employees while we work to satisfy consumer demand throughout this outbreak is of paramount importance.
The CCM team is also tracking legislative developments in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. We will forward information relevant to your operations as it becomes available. The House of Representatives passed HR 6201, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. It would provide sick leave benefits for employees affected by the Coronavirus. Negotiations are continuing with the Senate to finalize the legislation. More information on the proposed legislation and how it may affect your businesses have been prepared by the Saqui Law Group and is below. In the days to come, please monitor your email for further correspondence. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our office.
Sincerely,
Casey Creamer
President/CEO
