On January 16th the U.S. Senate passed the USMCA Implementing Act/H.R. 5430 by an 89-10 vote. H.R. 5430 will now go to President Trump to be signed into law. The USMCA will go into force 30 days after the president notifies Congress upon Mexico and Canada each taking the necessary measures to comply with the agreement. With Mexico having already ratified the USMCA, it is now up to Canada’s Parliament to ratify the agreement (Parliament next meets on Monday, January 27).
