Act Now – Urge the Assembly to Amend SB 1

With just a week remaining before the legislature adjourns, CCM is urging the Assembly to amend SB 1 (Atkins) in order to ensure state and federal water regulators are able to utilize the best available science and timely data for effective environmental protection and water management.

In its current form, SB 1 proposes dangerous changes to how the state implements the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and would lock in the existing biological opinions that determine how much water must flow out of the Delta to protect native fish species. This directly influences how much water is available to ALL water users south of the Delta.

CCM is working with a broad coalition of agricultural groups, water interests, and the business community pushing for amendments that will resolve these concerns.  There is a concerted effort by members of the legislature and the Administration to see that our amendments are accepted before the bill is considered by the Assembly.

While no rule is set in stone when it comes to the legislative process, amendments must be accepted by this Friday and in print no later than 72 hours prior to the last day of the session on September 13th.

Please continue to weigh-in with your State Assembly Member and Senator to oppose SB 1 unless the bill is amended.  You can call your representative’s office directly, or send easily send a pre-drafted letter by clicking the link below.
