On April 29th, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-10-19, which directs the California Natural Resources Agency, California Environmental Protection Agency, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture to develop a water resiliency portfolio. The water portfolio will be designed to reassess the priorities identified in the 2016 California Water Action Plan.
California Citrus Mutual, along with several other agricultural and water organizations have been working with the administration to improve water supply and reliability as we are moving forward with implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act. The response so far from the administration has been positive and the expected announcement of the water portfolio is another good sign that the Governor is serious about addressing the needs of our rural agricultural communities. CCM will continue to engage the administration on the development of the water portfolio to address our needs.
