Mission Statement

|
California Citrus Mutual is a citrus producer's trade association representing members
who farm over 200,000 acres with a farm gate value approaching $1billion. The Exeter,
California-based organization was founded in 1977 by those who felt the need to
unite their fellow growers into a cohesive, powerful force.
Throughout the years, CCM has brought to fruition many of the goals of the founding fathers and
has developed into a dominant force from within as well as outside the industry. Having
attained the privilege to be called the "voice of the citrus grower",
CCM remains the vessel which successfully navigates the often rocky waters of
the business interests of its membership.
As stated in CCM's Objectives and Goals, "The objective of California Citrus Mutual is to
represent its members on matters that affect their economic livelihood and
provide them with necessary information to enhance their ability to profit from
their work." To that end, CCM has adopted, as some of its goals, the
development and coordination of vehicles to gather relevant, timely and unbiased
information for evaluation and dissemination to CCM members; the monitoring of
seasonal and long-range marketing activities of the industry, and the provision
of correct information to growers as to their dynamics and probable impact on
grower returns.

Also, CCM closely monitors and becomes involved, as needed, in the regulatory and legislative
processes of government which may result in an economic impact to growers and
maintains a viable Political Action Committee which will seek to help candidates
and issues of interest to growers. The organization educates consumers as to the
value of fresh citrus, including its healthfulness, the realities of pesticides
and the true "health dangers" should our food production and
distribution system be dismantled.
It is also vital to establish and maintain open lines of communication and cooperation with all
segments of the citrus industry, including suppliers of goods and services,
packers, researchers, marketing organizations and any others with whom growers
may deal in their citrus production and marketing activities. CCM
believes we need to establish and maintain open lines of communication and
cooperation with other agricultural organizations.
